Designed for discerning clientele with a penchant for genuine culinary arts, Babel de B uncovers the quintessence of Tunisian hospitality to an eclectic international audience. The brand represents a commitment to sustainability and responsible sourcing, advocating for local communities while aspiring to showcase the diverse richness of Tunisian culture and culinary brilliance on the global stage.

Task

The project centered on crafting a cohesive brand identity for Babel by B, blending Tunisian heritage with modern innovation. This included designing a versatile logo inspired by ancient Babylonian symbols and creating strategic content that positioned the chef as the "Alchemist of Flavours." The goal was to showcase the brand’s commitment to tradition, sustainability, and unique culinary experiences.

What began as intimate dinners at home for friends craving a taste of Tunisia has grown into a curated dining experience that celebrates the depth and richness of Tunisian culinary traditions. Babel de B goes beyond street food, showcasing regional dishes and stories passed down through generations, offering an immersive cultural and culinary journey.

Babel de B is a brand that embodies the essence of Tunisian culture through food, storytelling, and design. Created by Daria, the visual identity of Babel de B mirrors the same blend of past traditions and modern interpretation that is found in Boutheina’s cooking. The design draws from Tunisia’s deep history, integrating ancient symbols and cultural motifs that reflect the country’s diverse influences—from Phoenician roots to French touches.

The logo of Babel de B, with its circular form, reflects the balance between sunrise and sunset, symbolising the moments of brunch and dinner when people gather to eat and connect. The dualism of the two half-circle shapes that face each other captures these communal experiences, reinforcing the brand’s ethos of togetherness. Other elements, like the eye, represent rituals, while the fish symbolises good luck. This simple yet meaningful design speaks to the cultural richness of Tunisia, enhancing the unique dining experience where history, hospitality, and flavour converge to narrate a cohesive story of Tunisia’s culinary and cultural heritage.

Babel de B’s visual identity draws inspiration from ancient cuneiform writing and the handcrafted illustrations of traditional Tunisian ceramics, made by women in villages. The cuneiform symbolises the transmission of knowledge, while the ceramics reflect the cycles of nature and traditions passed down through generations. The circular design reflects the transmission of knowledge, embodying fluidity, nature, and the essence of Tunisian life, with every mark serving as a blessing, a seal, or a talisman of cultural preservation.

Nafas represents the core, the essence of Babel de B culinary endeavours, infusing life into each creation, reflecting a harmonious blend of tradition and innovation.
